Sorghum Seeds

$4.00

Did someone ring the grain bell? Well, check your front door—you just got some very drought and heat tolerant sorghum reaching up to 7-8 feet tall with beautiful red tassels when fully mature, with uber micro pearl shaped black seeds—great for popping, grinding into a Bob’s Red Mill flour, non-non alcoholic beverages, feeding your livestock, using as a make shift broom (when seeds are still firmly attached), and many more! Saved at the Rio Grande Community Farm in Albuquerque, New Mexico (used as a corn replacement for its annual corn maze), it is a fast grower when established, extremely drought tolerant, needing just a deep soaking between watering, so don’t fret if you’re out of town for a week!

- Plant about a month after last frost when the soil really warms up, see: almanac.com/gardening/frostdates                                                                          - Plant 3 seeds, 3-4” deep in area with full sun (scattering will be fine, since seeds are so small, be sure to cover to prevent hungry birds) every 3” apart                                                                                                                                            -Water seeds in gently and should germinate in 14-21 days and reaching full maturity in about 4 months (or cut stocks before heads form for live stock food or when cutting a maze)                                                                                 - Water about twice a week (when top 1.5” is dry) when at least 1 ft tall. Apply organic fertilizers like fish emulsion water or scatter bat guano for maximum height. Minimum 200+ seeds.
