Safari Marigold Seeds
Safari Marigold Seeds
Scarlett letter alert at this safari zone, something is shouting at our eyes as we walk the dense jungles and Lunabear just found out these stunning inferno of bright red, yellow, and orange dwarf marigolds. Some may describe the color “luminescence”, but we’ll just keep it simple and it sure is shinier than traditional marigolds, though, it’s dwarf stature keeps the plant compact at less than a foot tall with “anemone” type flowers and makes an excellent color splash planted containers and in the plot! Great as edible garnish so they say.
- Plant seeds 1/8” inch deep, every 6 inches and then thin to about every one foot apart when seed have germinated (in about 10-14 days) - In area with soft fertile soil and area with full sun, about right after last frost to ensure soil has warmed up. It also be started indoors then transplanted, a month before last frost, just make sure it had adequate lighting so the plants don’t get too lanky. Plant outside when plant is at least 4” tall -Water seedlings frequently until established, then when large enough once the first top 1” of soil is dry. It will begin to flower in about 60 day—pinch back some shoots (just like pruning) to encourage bushier growth and harvest flowers to prolong blooming throughout the season! Feed with organic nutrients like bat guano/compost tea every other week for maximum yield. Minimum 25 seeds.
