Liberty Bell Tomato Seeds

$4.00

Let me get your John Hancock, please. That means let me get your signature for you zoomers who may or not be interested in gardening—we hope it’s the first one! Let me get that John Hancock in cursive. Cursive is that squiggly line on the dollar bill, millennials and oh boy—growing tomatoes are just like cursive. Once you get the hang out if it, just like these constitutional tomato, its just growing these 3 inch long, 7-ish ounce bright red fruit. With thick skin and large empty cavity (think the bell pepper of roma tomatoes with a unique bell shape) it is excellent for a grilling or stuffing with ricotta and little nuts in the middle. Fleshy and sweet—that’s what they call us in Philadelphia when we are sneaking photos of the Liberty Bell for National Treasure 4. Great for stacking at the farmers market.

Plant 2 seeds 1/8 deep in soft soil in at least 2” deep container—we like to start everything indoors about a month before last frost: almanac.com/gardening/frostdates for your local date— place in area with full sun/strongest light in warmest area. Water it in and spray/flick additional water each day—make sure it’s not too damp though. - Germinates in 7-10 days. - Plant outside when at least 4 inches tall, after danger of last frost—make sure not to start too early as it will get leggy unless under supplemental light or area with strong lighting. - Mix in bat guano/organic nutrients into the hole you are planting in. Plant at least 2.5ft apart, as an indeterminate plant—will need to be trellised. Make sure roots are not saturated in water, when it doubt let it dry out. They are forgiving plants! Plant early flowers to generate more vegetative growth— and prune extra suckers often for more fruit. Around 60 days from transplant, or 90 days direct seeding. Minimum 30 seeds.
