Imagine in 50 days from direct seeding 1/4” deep, pulling out your baby fennel. Now picture this: in 80 days pulling out some thic 1 pound bulbous black licorice scented when direct seeded. Direct seed 10 seeds per foot and then thin to plants every 4”. Can be started as transplants—a month before last frost and transplanted when at least 4” tall. Be very careful with the roots. Best planted early in the spring as hot weather encourages bolting.

Culinary: Spice up your bedroom, whoops I mean kitchen with this versatile vegetable raw or cooked. Stalks are edible and feathery bouquet leaves make an excellent garnish for you tempehn or broiled salmon with pepper corns. (garrr-neeesh)
