What the cross? Did we just hybridize our New Mexico first placing award winning purple tomatillos with the beautiful bright yellow chupon de malinalco heirloom tomatillos—well call it a happy accident, because we got the best of both worlds. A joint collaboration that produces an eye catching citrusy yellow with purple hues baby that forms into a unique 3” long heart shaped tomatillo with a sweet and savory tone, great for salsa verde,  pineapple salsa, and chopped on a salad, we sure do accept it with loving and caring farms.

- We like to start them indoors about a month before last frost see: almanac.com/gardening/frostdates                                                                                                 — We highly suggest using heating mats to start them, a great investment for starting all types of seeds.—Plant them 1/8” deep in soft potting soil in a pot at least 4” deep and keep it under the heating mat and will germinate in 12-14 days. Make sure to keep a light very close to the plant as it will become lanky if there isn’t enough light.                                                                                              -Seeds are very small so plant 2-3 seeds and thin to strongest seedling after they germinate. Transplant outdoors when about a 4” tall, 3ft apart in area with full sun and enough space as they plants will take up around 3ft wide. It is crucial to plant at least 2 plants, even better if there are more tomatillo plants near each other to ensure the blooms are pollinated.                                      -These take awhile around 100 days to form full fruits - you will know when there you can feel a firm sphere inside the husk. Harvest often to promote more fruit. Fertilize at least once every week after planted with bat guano and bone meal for max yield. Minimum 25 seeds.
