I yam what I yam and that’s all I yam—Pope Eye. Not the chicken front but the Sailor Man and his wife Olive Oyl (I am not making this up). This may be a motto to live by but we like YOLO when you are growing this vintage thick-skinned dark green-ribbed spinach variety. So, quit the packaged clamshells and trying growing your one cool weather greens (related to Swiss Chard and Beets—now that’s a family. -Perfect for direct seeding a couple of weeks before first frost in the Spring or when it cools down in the summer to prevent bolting (our experience is it’s slower to flower) but it sure doesn’t appreciate overbearing direct heat beating down on this chicken mcnuggets ™ - but you can use a shade cloth in hoops to cover them.

—Plant (2) seeds 1/2” deep, every 6” or a little closer if growing grow baby greens (pinch the weaker seedling). Ready to harvest 30 days for baby leaves or 45 days for mature plant—pick from the outer leaves first.

—Great for a custom salad mix—throw in some Swiss Chard, Kale, Lettuce, Dill, Parsley bits and throw an edible flower and take that to your Popeye’s party.
